The joy of life does not come principally from human relationships. God has placed it all around us, it's in everything & anything that we can experience. We just need to change the way we look at those things.

Heceta Head

During April & May, I've had the privilege of hosting at the iconic, most photographed lighthouse on the Oregon coast...Heceta Head.  2,450 visitors from 41 US states, 4 Canada providences, & 19 foreign countries toured the lighthouse.  The 5 top comments recorded in the guest book were: Beautiful, Awesome, Amazing, Wow, Great.  I wholeheartedly agree; plus it's a supreme viewpoint for whale & bird watching.
Construction of the 56-foot-high lighthouse began in 1892 & on March. 30, 1894, the kerosene light was lit for the first time.

The 1st-order Fresnel lens has 8 panels, each with a bulls-eye, & 392 pieces of 2" thick crown glass. The rotation of the lens produces 1 white beam every 10 seconds, which is Heceta's signature.

Heceta has the only active English-made Chance Brothers lens of its kind in the US & it's the brightest beacon on the Oregon coast. The light is 205 feet above the Pacific & is seen from 21 miles out to sea.
